The genuine warmth and generous hospitality of our hosts and the South Indian community was overwhelming. Linda and I enjoyed an enchanting display of the immense talent that is very much part of this vibrant community. The colour, dance, singing, friendship, and delicious Pongal optimises the true splendour of this rich cultural tradition celebrating Kaanum Pongal, being the fourth day where thanks for a bountiful harvest is offered up to the glorious Sun, Mother Nature and the Animals of the farm who have contributed. Pongal and the South Indian Community will remain in Linda’s and my heart for many years to come.
It was a real privilege to be there, to be entertained by some excellent singing and dancing and - with my sweet tooth - to enjoy some of the rice dish (sweetened with palm sugar) that is cooked in the pongal pot, and which was delicious! “I would like to congratulate the organisers of the South Indian Food Festival. You put on an amazing day showcasing the local skills and talent of your community.
This gave many the opportunity to promote their business, coming together with one another.
I look forward to the next event and wish you every success in the future.”

What an amazing time at the South Indian Arts & Cultural Society Food Festival today! As the Mayor of Eastleigh, it was an honour to be part of this vibrant celebration of flavours and culture.
The delectable delicacies on display were a true feast for the senses! From aromatic spices to mouth watering dishes, every bite was a culinary delight. In addition there was a powerful display of traditional drumming, which I particularly enjoyed.
A special shout out to the new Lord Mayor of Southampton for joining us at this wonderful event.
Heartfelt thanks to the South Indian Arts & Cultural Society for the kind invitation and their generosity. The bonds we share through food and culture make our community stronger and more vibrant.
Let's cherish and celebrate our diverse heritage, one delicious dish at a time!
